We build a fence made of wood for flower beds with our own hands

Creating a beautiful flower bed is not only about planting flowers in a specific order. A neat fence that will separate the flower garden from the rest of the garden is an important part of the structure. Do-it-yourself decorative wooden fences will fit into any design. Such fences, on the one hand, will make the appearance of the planting more accurate, and on the other hand, they will reduce the chance of damaging flowers or disrupting the landscape composition.

Snag fence

Wood, as a natural material, will not harm flowers, since it does not overheat in the sun, does not reflect the sun's rays, and decomposes over time, fertilizing the soil. In addition, in terms of prevalence, nothing can compete with it. To make a fence with your own hands, you can use willow rods, a picket fence, driftwood, chocks - everything that is found in abundance at the summer cottage. Driftwood is suitable for fencing low flower beds. Such a fence will emphasize the beauty of flowers and their leaves, but at the same time hide the earth. The easiest way is to lay out bent tree trunks around the perimeter of the flower bed. The surface of the driftwood should be cleaned of bark so as not to attract bark beetles, which can harm the plantings.

Of course, if you just lay out the driftwood, then the fence will not come out of it very reliable. Therefore, drive the pegs into the ground, next to each driftwood, to hold it in place. Additionally, fences with snags can be interwoven with willow twigs in order to increase their stability on the one hand, and on the other - to give an intricate, exotic look.

Fence made of boards

You can make a fence out of boards with your own hands - it will take some time, but the result will please you. Any trims of boards that need to be sanded, cut to the same height and, if desired, triangular tops will be used.

To begin with, form small sections from the blanks, fasten them with transverse boards - later you will cover the base of the fence for the flower bed with them. Drive posts around the perimeter of the flower garden, onto which you fix the wooden sections. This kind of fence is suitable for both isolated flower beds and for decorating garden paths. Optionally, you can cover it with oil paint so that it does not swell or sag from rain or snow.

Willow wattle

The decorative function is performed by a fence made of willow branches. Their flexible structure is perfect for weaving. It is best to harvest the branches in the spring, when they are not hardened and the bark has not hardened. Each lash should be thoroughly cleaned of bark, twigs and leaves before making a fence.

Fence from old pegs for a flower bed

Drive in the pegs at the same height around the perimeter of the flower bed, trying to place them not very far from each other. The base is ready, now you can start weaving. Start on the side that is not visible to hide the "joint" from prying eyes.

The weaving technique is such that the vine goes around each peg in front or behind, alternating. That is, the first peg - the vine passes from the front side, the second - from the wrong side, the third - from the front, and so on. Nail the beginning and end of the willow vine to the pegs to securely fasten. Also, each row of lashes should be tapped with a hammer so that they pass tighter. Just do not overdo it, otherwise you will break the rod. With your own hands, you can make a flexible fence from any vines, not only willow will do, but also hazel, lake reeds.

Chock border

What else can you make decorative fences for flower beds with your own hands? A curb from chocks, for example. To make such a fence, you will need logs of approximately the same diameter. Prepare the ground around the perimeter to stabilize the structure. Clean each block of bark with your own hands and treat it with an antiseptic to prevent rotting, and also wrap the part that you will dig in with roofing material - this will save it from absorbing moisture from the ground, and will help it stand much longer.

Dig in the decorative logs to a depth of at least 20 cm. Tamp the logs well into the ground, hammer them in with a hammer so that they stand close to each other. Decorative fences of this kind last for a long time, giving the flower garden an elegant look. With your own hands, you can make a beautiful fence for every taste, precisely matching the features of the flower arrangement, landscape features and the general appearance of the garden. Since the material for construction is natural, always at hand, you can combine different types of fences with each other, creating real works of art.
