What distinguishes the hybrid tea rose Luxor: description and agricultural technology
Content
History of origin
The ever-changing trends of modern floristry force breeders to create unique and unusual rose hybrids. As a result of productive breeding work in 2006 in the Netherlands, the Luxor variety appeared (Luxor or Luxor). Its other name is also found in catalogs - Ruiy5991. The author of the development and the owner of the patent is the Dutch company De Ruiter Innovations BV. The hybrid is well adapted to different climatic zones, can be grown in greenhouses and open field.
Description and photo of rose Luxor
Hybrid tea rose amazes with its decorativeness and color palette. The main advantage of the variety is the extraordinary color bicolor, that is, two-color. The velvety rose petals are painted in a juicy burgundy red on the inside, on the outside they are light beige, almost white. Graceful folds around the edges create contrast and give the bud a special solemnity. The flower itself is dense, goblet, rather large, 5-6 cm in diameter and about 10 cm in height.
The rose bush is compact, the height in the open field reaches 1-1, 2 m. The shoots are strong, slightly thorny in the lower part, there are practically no thorns on the stems with buds. The foliage is glossy, green on the surface and reddish underneath. The plant has a high resistance to moisture, return frost, black spot and powdery mildew.
The rose blooms in two waves - the first time from June to July, and then again from August to September. The buds open slowly and remain in this state for a long time, which is why the bush smells of a delicate aroma for almost the entire season. The bushes bloom profusely - on an industrial scale, the average productivity per season is 90-110 buds per 1 m².
Pros and cons of the variety
Almost all gardeners and consumers leave only positive reviews about this rose.

Features of agricultural technology rose Luxor
The hybrid was bred through complex selection, therefore, when grown in garden conditions, some problems may arise with it. Firstly, the seedlings adapt to the new environment for a long time, so it is normal if the bush does not bloom in the first year.Secondly, for full flowering, the rose needs intensive care, as well as proper placement on the site.
Growing conditions
The place for planting roses should be chosen especially carefully. It should be well lit, but at the same time exclude direct rays from hitting the plants. An area near the wall, protected from winds and drafts, where the sun shines abundantly until noon, and then it is replaced by a light shade, is ideal.
The soil needs fertile and breathable with a pH level of 5, 5-7. A suitable substrate can be collected from 2 parts of soil and river sand, adding 3 parts of humus and 1 part of peat. Roses are planted in holes 0.5 m deep, a drainage layer is laid on the bottom. The optimal distance between the bushes is at least 1 m.
Sandy and alkaline soils are not suitable for growing this variety - the bushes on them suffer from chlorosis.
Planting methods
Saplings are planted in the spring, before bud break. In the south, it can be the end of April, in the middle lane and colder regions - the beginning of May. Depending on the climatic conditions, roses can be planted in two ways:
- The dry method is used in humid climates. The seedling is placed in the center of the hole, the roots are straightened, carefully covered with earth, followed by abundant watering.
- The wet method is suitable for dry and hot climates. Water is poured into the pit in advance, and when it is absorbed, a seedling is lowered into the pit and covered with dry earth. This method allows you to retain moisture longer and is most suitable for tea roses.
The success of rooting a seedling largely depends on the condition of the root system, therefore, before planting, all damaged fragments should be removed and the roots should be kept in water for at least 6 hours.
Subtleties of care
In hot weather, the bushes are watered 2-3 times a week, the rest of the time - about 1 time per week. Top dressing is applied several times:
- in the spring - nitrogen fertilization;
- during the formation of buds - a mineral complex with trace elements;
- at the end of the season - potassium and phosphorus;
- before each wave of flowering, the bushes are recommended to be watered with sodium humate.
Pruning is done in the spring, before the buds awaken, and in the fall. In September, all non-flowering shoots are cut out. In spring, damaged branches are removed, and productive shoots are shortened by 4-5 buds. Withered buds should be cut regularly throughout the season.
Only the roots of the roses are covered for the winter. To do this, they are huddled with earth mixed with humus or peat to a height of 15-20 cm, then a layer of foliage or spruce branches is laid. In cold regions, non-woven material is additionally used. During the same period, adult bushes can be transplanted to a new location.
Dangerous diseases and pests
The resistance of the rose to diseases and other external factors is high, so all that it needs for good flowering is the correct agricultural technique. For prevention, roses can be sprayed with Bordeaux mixture in the spring.
Variants of using rose Luxor
The main application of roses is the creation of floristic compositions and bouquets on the occasion of memorable dates, anniversaries, weddings. Framed by small flowers of light shades, bright buds look romantic and at the same time solemn. Such a bouquet is appropriate for any holiday, suitable for both men and women of different ages.
When planted on the site, these roses create a bright accent and draw attention to a specific area. It is better to plant them in prominent places - in the foreground of flower beds, near the house, along paths, in the center of flower beds. It is worth noting that two-color buds are spectacular in themselves, so the bushes can be planted separately. In group plantings, the rose can be supplemented with flowers that are smaller in size and lighter in color.
Florist reviews
“I love this rose. Spectacular velvety buds, blooms almost all summer and does not get sick. The main thing is to plant in a sunny place, otherwise the buds are small in the shade. "
“This beauty grew up with me for 4 years, and last spring she did not come out of winter. Perhaps I opened it late. In general, it's a pity, I will plant new bushes. "
Luxor is a versatile hybrid that can be grown in different climatic conditions. Planted on the site, it will decorate the garden and fill it with aroma all summer long. If desired, the rose can be grown for cutting, because the consumer demand for it is huge.
