Benefits of timber structures
Products for flowers, ideal for summer cottages, can vary in shape, size, height. At the same time, the height of the wooden flower beds should be approximately the same as the planted plants. Do-it-yourself flower products made of wood have a number of advantages.
In particular:
- such designs for flowers are quite simple to make yourself;
- the material is available and has a low cost, is present in abundance in the country;
- it is possible to change their color by repainting at any time;
- environmentally friendly material;
- in the event of decomposition of the tree, the soil receives additional nutrients;
- practically do not freeze in winter and do not overheat in the scorching summer sun;
- very nicely in the country they are combined with wooden houses;
- the material organically and effectively complements the flower garden.
So that moisture does not prematurely destroy the product, the material must first be impregnated with an antiseptic composition, which will prevent wood from rotting and protect it from insects. After that it is covered with varnish or paint. There are many options and methods for making a wooden flower garden with your own hands. Finished product options
For fencing places for flowers, you can use ready-made decorative fences or borders made of wood, thus forming functional zones. They look natural in the country. It is advisable to maintain a single style in the design - then the entire site will look harmonious and beautiful. Fences can be of different heights - from 5 cm (to separate the flower garden from the path) to 50 cm (to protect flowers from animals and children).
In addition, the fence dug into the ground does not allow perennials to "crawl" beyond its limits. To install finished products with your own hands, you need to dig in the posts at a short distance (along the width of the section) and screw individual sections of the fence to them with self-tapping screws. Do not forget to pre-apply varnish or paint on them - this will increase the life of the homemade flower bed.
Pegs option
The way to create a flower fence from pegs is the simplest. The bark is preliminarily cleaned from them, then sawn into workpieces of the required length. They outline the contours of the future flower bed, measure its length. Focusing on this value, prepare the appropriate amount of material. Each peg is treated with a special antiseptic compound and varnished. When they dry up, they dig a narrow trench along the contour of the flower bed, with an average depth of 15-25 cm (depending on the height of the workpiece). Then, in turn, peg by peg is placed in a trench and buried.
The height is adjusted with a hammer, the ground should be well tamped. The final stage of creating do-it-yourself products from pegs is painting. If you want to keep the natural woody tone, just apply another coat of varnish.
Solid log flower bed
Another of the simplest ways to organize a place for flowers in a summer cottage is from solid logs. This option looks especially harmonious and stylish if the house is wooden. To make such a design with your own hands, you need to choose a material of approximately the same diameter. Then they cut out the required length, remove the bark from the logs and lay out a fence for flowers from them. The logs pre-treated with an antiseptic composition are covered with dark varnish. Such a self-made flower garden will wonderfully fit into the bright green foliage.
A small version of blocks
The way to organize a flower garden from blocks is also quite simple. To create it, you will need bars with a length of 30 (50) cm.First, we mark the place under the flower bed with pegs: we spread four bars of the same length with an edge on a flat earthen area (a square is obtained) - there will be a future flower bed. We attach them inside with self-tapping screws in the corners of the box. We prepare the grooves for digging in the bars, install the structure there and bury it in the ground, tamping it well. Before creating a structure from blocks with your own hands, do not forget to treat the material with an antiseptic impregnation, varnish or paint so that the flower garden will please the eye for as long as possible.
Flowerpot-flowerpot
This structure can be placed not only on the ground, but also hung on the wall of the house, for example. It will give "volume" to the surrounding space. Such a spectacular "flowerpot" is also quite easy to make with your own hands. Moreover, the shape can vary - from the usual rectangular or square to pyramidal. To make it, prepare bars and boards of different lengths.
First, the frame is knocked down and boards of the same width are nailed onto it. The pyramid pot is created from top to bottom - from long to short details. The blank is nailed inside the structure to eliminate gaps. In addition, the finished product is sheathed from the inside with a special water-resistant material, the fabric at the bottom is pierced to eliminate excess moisture.
Flowerbed-sandbox
A sandbox flower bed will look no less impressive in the country. To make it, you will need bars, boards, varnish. Using boards, they make a structure similar to a children's sandbox. The width of the edging can be 10-15 cm and outwardly resemble a shop. The structure is installed in the same way as in the previous versions, the tree is processed in the same way. When finished, it can be decorated with multi-colored paints.
