Simple DIY products

For the manufacture of such simple objects as a table or bench, you can use boards and beams, or you can get by with narrow logs. Even pallets left over after construction will do - having them in the right amount, you can significantly diversify furniture sets.

For work you will need a drill and a hacksaw, an electric saw and a grinder. It is desirable, of course, to have the simplest joinery and carpentry skills. Things will go much faster if, before starting work, you select a suitable drawing or sketch out an approximate diagram on a sheet of paper, having estimated the required dimensions in advance.

Table

You can't do without a spacious and roomy table in the country. They gather behind him for a family lunch or breakfast on a warm summer day, here they organize evening gatherings with friends, while delicious meat dishes are prepared on the grill.

The country table should have a simple and reliable design. For creation, a metal profile in the form of a frame and a board as a table top is suitable. Another option is to make the table entirely from profiled beams and boards.

Let's analyze the second option in more detail.

It is advisable to make the tabletop from edged boards 4 cm thick and 14 cm wide. Self-tapping screws will be needed for fastening. The work is carried out according to the following scheme:

1. A number of boards are prepared, sufficient to assemble the canvas of the required size and length. Jumpers will also be needed.
2. Drill holes in the lintels that match the diameter of the fastening bolts used.
3. Supports are made of timber. It is recommended to make them crossed, for which the ends are cut at an angle of 45 °.
4. The boards of the tabletop canvas are fastened together, then the resulting part is attached to the supports.
5. We check the strength of the structure.

When the table is ready, it is advisable to subject it to a protective treatment. For this, all wooden parts:

• grind;
• impregnated with linseed oil;
• allow to dry, then paint or varnish.

Sun lounger

Although this piece of furniture is located on the beach by the sea, it is perfect for a garden plot. Sitting on a sun lounger, you can sunbathe or doze in the shade of trees.

It is easier to make it from wooden beams. The simplest design involves the use of the following materials:

• rectangular slats 25x60 mm thick - you need 6 pcs. different lengths;
• round slats with a diameter of 2 cm - 5 pcs.;
• durable fabric for the seat and backrest measuring 200x50 cm;
• connecting bolts and nuts.

It is better to select wood from hard species: oak, beech or birch. The fabric should also have increased strength - tarp, denim or canvas will do.

Let's explain the main stages of making a sun lounger:

1. Cut into 2 pieces from rectangular slats. length 1.2 and 1.1 m, and one more - 0.62 m.
2. From rails of circular cross-section - 2 pcs. 0.6 and 0.5 m, and one more - 0.65 m.
3. Sand the surface thoroughly with sandpaper.
4. In long slats, we drill 8 mm holes, stepping back 40 and 70 cm from the ends.
5. With a step of 10 cm, we make several cuts in the form of steps - this will allow you to change the angle of the back.
6. We drill 2 cm holes for round slats to install the seat.
7. Lubricate the ends of the round rails with PVA glue, then insert them into the drilled holes.
8. Putting the whole frame together.
9. We cut and sew the seat from the fabric. The length should be sufficient so that the chaise longue can be folded, but so that the fabric does not sag too much when unfolded.
10. We attach the seat to the round slats.

Bench

A very useful furniture element for giving. It is pleasant to sit on the bench, it can be moved to the table, organizing a comfortable place for eating.

Now let's take a look at how to create a simple and functional wooden bench with your own hands. The simplest solution is to prepare two logs of a suitable height, make cuts of the required thickness on one side of them, into which then insert a thick sanded board.

Another good option is to make a power frame from shaped pipes of different diameters:

1. Two wide pipes are bent into an arc, fastening at the top and bottom with a pair of jumpers, using pipes of a smaller diameter.
2. The lower crosspieces are connected by a longitudinal crosspiece. The metal is held together by welding.
3. The seat is made from a thick wide board or four long sanded bars. Attach the tree to the upper lintels with bolts, threading them into holes pre-drilled through the timber and pipes.

The third option is to use two concrete blocks as a base. The shop will turn out to be massive, but there is less chance that it will be stolen from you.

Lounger

This piece of furniture will be useful for those who like to lie down in the fresh air. Now we will explain how to make a lounger with an adjustable back. This will allow you to change the angle of inclination, turning the bench into a comfortable chair.

To work, you need the following materials:

• boards 5x10 cm, 3 pcs. length 40 cm, 2 pcs. - 90 cm and 1 pc. - 60 cm, from which the back will be formed;
• timber for the frame - 2 pcs. 50 cm long and 2 pcs. - 2.15 m;
• leg bar - 6 pcs. 35 cm each, for an outdoor couch this is quite enough;
• seat slats - 13 pcs. size 25x80x600 mm;
• backrest slats - 6 pcs. size 25x80x880 mm.

The frame is assembled in the following sequence:

1. A rectangle is constructed from the prepared elements, the bar is fastened with screws. Another frame is made according to the same principle - a movable seat.
2. The frame bed is covered with transverse slats with a step of 1.5-2 cm.
3. The legs are mounted from prepared bars, connecting them in pairs at the legs and one at a time at the head. Fix the legs at the corners with self-tapping screws.
4. The frame for the backrest is installed in the body of the common frame, leaving a small indent so that it is convenient to move it. We cover the backrest frame with transverse slats.
5. The back is attached to the bench, stepping back from the edge of 9 cm. To regulate the slope, several corner grooves are cut out in the frame.

When the bed is assembled, it must be sanded, then varnished or painted with a special paint that does not fade in the sun.

Other options

We examined the simplest options for making furniture for a summer cottage, requiring from the master minimal experience in working with wood. However, there are other solutions as well.

Wicker furniture or furniture made of artificial rattan looks creative in the country. Getting the material is not a problem, but making it requires mastering the art of weaving. As the basis of furniture, you can take wooden structures, covering them completely or partially with wicker cloth.

Furniture can be made entirely of metal if you have a welding machine on hand. Finally, you can significantly improve your blacksmithing skills by making wrought iron garden structures.

A much simpler option is to build a table, a couch or even a whole seating area from pallets. You will need a lot of them, individual parts may have to be restored, for which the pallet is disassembled, damaged parts are removed and reassembled.
