We create crafts with our own hands: 10 creative ideas for giving
Content
What materials can be used
Although the store sells a variety of craft supplies, you can find the right items on site. The household sometimes accumulates a fair amount of unnecessary things that, with the help of imagination, can be easily turned into something beautiful and useful.
Some of the most popular are:
- plastic and beer bottles;
- obsolete car tires;
- wooden blocks, boards and plywood;
- barrels, trays and basins;
- hoses;
- the remains of linoleum;
- unnecessary furniture;
- cones;
- and much more.
Video "Crafts for a summer residence and a garden with your own hands"
From this video you will learn 5 ideas for crafts for giving, and how to make them yourself.
Original ideas
The main requirement is not to be afraid to experiment, using your imagination. Interesting ideas are sometimes born literally out of nothing:
- An elementary lawn for grass on a personal plot can be broken using the same tires. Then arm yourself with a paintbrush and get an original decoration.
- Sometimes they don't even alter the plastic container, they just paint or draw some cartoon characters.
- Several logs, fastened together, turn into a sculpture of a garden horse pulling a cart with flowers, the functions of which will be performed by a fruit box with nailed wheels (log cuts).
Since more always starts small, here are some examples of useful crafts for the garden and vegetable garden that you can do with your own hands with a minimum of tools.
Decorative well
The dimensions of the craft depend on the size of the site on which it is supposed to be installed. Various materials are used for manufacturing:
- The bowl of the well is built from 2-3 old tires, installed one on top of the other, and at the very top, you can break a flower bed.
- From several pieces of timber or logs, support columns of a well and an upper lintel are constructed, for which slots are made in the tires. The columns are driven into the ground.
- The roof is made from sheets of slate, polycarbonate or lining. You can cut a few curved strips from another remaining unclaimed tire.
- A small basket of flowers is hung from the bar as a bucket.
When the structure is ready, arm yourself with paints (always oil paints that adhere well to rubber) and apply a pattern to the tires that imitates brickwork. Please note that the drawing will need to be updated once a year.
Palms-flower bed
True gardeners love to create flower beds in the most bizarre shapes. A pair of hands made of rubber gloves looks original, holding green plants in the palms.
The craft is made as follows:
- A fast-hardening sand-cement mortar is poured into whole gloves in a ratio of 3: 1. The consistency is liquid sour cream. The sand is required to be clean and very fine.
- After pouring the solution, the gloves are given the required shape using cardboard, sand and rags.
- When the solution hardens, the gloves are removed. The workpiece is cleaned, putty, covered with primer and painted.
The craft should be placed in the garden, poured fertile soil in the "palm" and planted flowers.
Glowing stumps
Sometimes in the country you want to build a small place for evening gatherings. It is not necessary to build a gazebo, you can fence a small area, install a table and chairs. To make the recreation area look creative at dusk, instead of the usual chairs, it is better to install log stumps, covering their tops with fluorescent paint. As a result, you will become the owner of a fabulous corner.
Before painting, the surface of each stump is cleaned of burrs and carefully sanded. Next, paint is applied and allowed to dry. You can apply paint to the entire surface of the log seat, then it glows entirely in the dark, illuminating the entire area.
Rag flower pot
If a little cement has been preserved in the garden and there is an unnecessary floor cloth (preferably a whole one), it would be a good idea to make an original flower pot:
- Cover the bucket with a rag.
- The falling ends on the floor are smoothed out, giving them the appearance of plant petals.
- The entire structure is coated with a cement-sandy slurry and allowed time to harden.
After hardening, the cloth turned upside down by "petals" takes the form of a decorative flowerpot of an unusual shape with a rough surface of light colors.
Flowers from wire and bottles
Although there are plenty of real flowers in the garden, artificially made flower crafts are also useful. Even winter frosts are not terrible for them. There are many options for crafts that fit well into the landscape.
Here is a brief instruction for making chamomile from three white plastic bottles:
- Cut the bottles in half. Chamomile needs three blanks, each 1 cm higher than the next.
- In the blanks, we cut out the bending petals, after which we put all three on top of each other. The workpiece with the neck turns out to be the topmost one.
- We unfold the petals, placing them evenly.
- Screw the yellow lid on top.
Having drilled a couple of holes in the cork and threaded a wire through them, the chamomile can be attached to the stem - a piece of thick wire, thin tube or metal bar.
Creative approach
Flat stones are a real find for a novice master. Having laid them out between the beds and colored, you can get:
- ladybirds;
- bare foot prints;
- frog, caterpillar, etc.
It is easy to hollow out the rotten part in an old log and organize a bird feeder. Cans make excellent lamps, and an old barrel makes it easy to build a wine cellar.
Take a closer look at how to make these and other crafts.
Log feeder
Although the stores are full of all kinds of bird feeders, in the country homemade products made from the same plastic bottles or wooden blocks look much prettier. Below is an example of a feeder that can be built from a small piece of a sawn log:
- A core is drilled into the log, forming a hollow cylinder inside.
- The sides are made from cuts of a smaller diameter - being attached to the end of the log, they will close it on both sides.
- On the one hand, cuts are made in the log and both cuts, sufficient for a bird to fly inside freely.
- In the upper part of the log, the rings are screwed to which the rope is attached.
Now the feeder can be hung on the tree and the feed can be added.
Pots from old dishes
The interior of a veranda or terrace can be creatively decorated using old shoes as flowerpots, the same car tires hung vertically on the wall or laid on the ground, an old toy of a dump truck or a bicycle - in general, all kinds of rubbish.
An interesting solution is to use old dishes, which accumulate a lot in any household. Whole or leaky mugs, teapots, pots, cast iron pots will do. These pots look beautiful on the dining table, surrounded by "real" dishes, they can be placed on the railing of the gazebo or hung on wires in the openings of the windows.
Wooden barrel wine cabinet
When arranging a recreation area, you should think about building a kind of wine cabinet. For this purpose, an old barrel is suitable, which will have to be redone a little:
- A part of the boards is cut out from the front side of the barrel, leaving everything else intact.
- Inside, shelves are built in the form of boards hammered into a lattice. The shelves should be long enough to hold the wine bottle.
- In the upper part, holders are constructed, to which clean glasses will be hung by the legs.
The top of the barrel will serve as an excellent table.
Concrete leaves
Although concrete is not one of the materials that are always on hand, sometimes after some construction work, it remains a little. In this case, you can build very interesting crafts.
Here's how to create an imitation of leaves from concrete:
- In a garden or forest, a green leaf of the largest possible size is selected. A burdock or water lily will do.
- A small slide is poured from the sand, on which the spread sheet will take on a volumetric curved shape.
- A layer of concrete with a thickness of about 2 cm is applied on top (a layer that is too thin can crack).
- The top surface is smoothed, then the concrete is allowed to harden.
Upon completion, the resulting concrete craft is turned over, the sheet is removed. For beauty, the interior can be tinted or laid out with a pattern by gluing colored stones.
Lamps from cans
In the evening, sometimes the garden area is illuminated with electric bulbs. However, no one forbids making original lamps with your own hands. As blanks, you can use transparent cans (from under mayonnaise, for example).
The jars should be closed with metal lids, as wax candles will burn inside. Ears-holders are attached to the lids, through which chains are threaded, allowing you to hang artificial lamps on trees, a fence or a porch of a house.
Small white stones are poured inside the jars (raw beans are also suitable) in a layer of 5–7 cm. Thick "long-playing" candles are inserted into this layer.
Other options
Sharing ideas on creating garden decorations can take a long time. Craftsmen create creative figures from slabs, birch blocks with branches and polyurethane foam, quite competing with traditional garden gnomes. From old basins and buckets, flower beds or cool decorative ponds are built.
For the construction of most crafts, drawings are not needed, just look at the photo.
Of course, many of these items are clearly inferior to industrial designs in functionality. However, their uniqueness and creativity more than pay off all the flaws.
