What is good about the drum
The main detail of the barbecue is the brazier. It should be compact but roomy to hold enough fuel. The brazier material is selected to be durable so that it will last for many years. The drum of the washing machine is just right for creating an outdoor barbecue. It is made of excellent quality stainless steel. This material can withstand high temperatures and does not corrode.
There are other positive aspects:
- Many small holes are made in the walls of the device, which provide an air duct for the firebox. This means that you can cook both meat and vegetables, and rather quickly, which will save on starting material.

How to make
No special additional materials are required for assembly. You can worry about a stand or the manufacture of legs in advance if you want to make the grill higher. All kinds of materials at hand are also suitable for this: metal racks, pipe cuttings, stands for flowerpots and even a chair frame.
During the assembly process, you will need tools:
- drill and grinder;
- pliers and files;
- hacksaw for metal;
- tape measure and marker.
To fix different parts you will need:
- a pair of 40 cm corners;
- ten bolts.
The build process consists of several stages:
- With a marker on one flat side of the drum, the contours of the future rectangular hatch are drawn.
- With the help of a grinder, part of the wall is cut out according to the marking.
- All cut edges are cleaned with a hacksaw, leveled.
- Along the edges of the rectangle, holes are drilled for the prepared bolts.
- The same holes are made in both corners, after which the corners are screwed on both sides of the rectangle.
The result is a round brazier. Attached corners serve as stands for skewers or skewers with strung meat.
To make the brazier more beautiful, the hole in it is made not square, but round. In this case, you will have to attach a metal pin to the side, and attach a lattice stand to it. It will hang over the flame, the food being prepared is laid out on it.

Stand options
Ideally, pick up a tall flower stand and bolt the brazier to it.
Another approach is to make three identical legs of the required height from a metal tube and attach them to the bottom of the barbecue. You can also make a tripod from a pipe. Welding is optional when fastening, it is easier to do with bolts and corners. As a result, the stand will be removable.
There are drum models with factory pre-drilled holes used for fastening to the body. These holes can be widened, pipes can be tapped and screwed in.
