How and from what to build a Finnish gazebo in the country

What is a Finnish gazebo
The Finnish house is a closed structure, inside which there is a hearth and a chimney. Gatherings with friends fit perfectly here; often this pastime is combined with cooking over an open fire.
Externally, the grill house looks impressive - it is a full-fledged building with individual architecture. Basically, they buy a ready-made structure, but in order to save money, you can build a structure yourself. The grill gazebo will become not only a place to relax, but also decorate the landscape design of the summer cottage.
A characteristic feature of the design is the presence inside the hearth for frying. This creates a special atmosphere of comfort, because even bad weather conditions will not interfere with barbecuing.

What to build from
What material to use for the construction of a structure depends on the result you want to get. Grill houses need a solid foundation, it is best to make it out of reinforced concrete, using a reinforcing mesh for strengthening. Professionals point out that it is better to spend money on a good foundation and save on further work. A reliable foundation is the guarantor of the durability of the structure. The choice of material for the base depends on the characteristics of the soil.
The frame of the building is assembled from wood, less often a stone gazebo is erected. The first option looks more aesthetically pleasing, but there is a risk of material ignition. Bricks are more durable, look great, but their price leaves much to be desired.
An important component of the gazebo is the grill. For its construction, you will need a heat-resistant brick.
Walls are built from different materials, usually wood, stone, brick, foam concrete are used for this. The material should be durable, beautiful in appearance and retain heat in the room, which will allow it to be used even in cold weather. The gazebo from adobe looks interesting. If you chose a tree, initially you need to build a frame on which the material will be installed in the future.
For the roof, slate, metal profiles, tiles or wood are used. If the structure is lighter, a polycarbonate canopy, awning is great.
House on your own
In order not to buy a ready-made structure, you can build it yourself. First, you need to draw up a project, take into account the size of the gazebo, the features of its interior. This will help determine the amount of material, and it is much better to act according to the developed algorithm. Also, don't forget to prepare your instrument.
Taking the construction with your own hands seriously, you will be able to build a beautiful and comfortable grill house. First, choose a place for the structure, decide on the area. Then you need to draw up drawings based on calculations. Take measurements on the flat surface of the area where the gazebo will be, and in three-dimensional space.
A brief schedule of work on the construction of a Finnish gazebo:
- We do the markup.
- We remove the top layer of soil, remove vegetation, debris.
- We fill the foundation.
- Installing the frame.
- We manufacture and install the roof.
- We cover the grill house outside.
- We install doors and windows if necessary.
- We carry out installation of a stove, chimney.
It turns out a comprehensive plan, so that a couple of extra hands in the work will not interfere.
The foundation
The foundation is an important link in any building. That is why it must be as reliable as possible. Much depends on the main building material that is used to build the gazebo. If this is a tree, a particularly complex foundation is not needed. Considering that there will be an open fire inside the room, it can even act as a floor.
Having chosen the location for the house, mark out the hexagonal perimeter. To do this, use twine, pegs. Do not forget that the platform for the foundation is more voluminous than for the gazebo itself. We remove the top layer of the earth from the designated area. We fill the site with crushed stone, sand, ram and level it. We put paving slabs on the resulting base. In the gap between the tiles, fill in a composition based on cement with sand. We fill all this with water, let it dry.
Walls
Using wood, an antiseptic must be applied to it - this will protect the material from rapid decay. Then we construct the base of the frame in the form of a hexagon from a planed bar. We fix it in half a tree and connect it to the foundation with anchors. Next, you will need eight wooden racks made of 10x10 cm timber and 25 cm long. In an upright position, we install them at the corners of the base, two in the opening for the door. Of the fasteners, we will use metal corners, self-tapping screws. We carry out the upper strapping by analogy with the lower one.
If there are doors and windows, install them. The part of the walls that remained open is covered with glued beams. We insulate the inner layer: polystyrene foam, mineral wool are suitable.
When building a Finnish brick gazebo, we simply carry out standard masonry, observing the shape of the house.
Roof
To erect a hexagonal roof, we need a tent-shaped rafter system. In the middle of the roof, you need to leave a place for the chimney. Because of this, the rafters are attached to a manufactured hexagon from a bar with a side of 29 cm.
Alone, the rafter system is easier to assemble on the ground. We fasten the prepared six rafters from the board with metal corners to the hexagon, make cuts on them for optimal shrinkage on the upper strapping. We raise the rafters, we fasten them. Next, we carry out the lathing with a 4x4 cm bar.
You should get roughly the following layers:
- rafter;
- vapor barrier film;
- insulation;
- waterproofing;
- OSB plate;
- lining carpet;
- roofing material.
There are various materials on sale that are used as roofing.
Floor
If the gazebo is made of wood, then you don't have to bother much with the floors. In this case, we lay the tiles on the foundation. Only in such a design will it be pretty cool in winter.
When building a closed house, there is another option. We make the base of the floor from wooden beams, then we lay boards or chipboard. It remains to lay linoleum or lay out the coating with non-slip tiles. Clinker tiles can be used for interior and exterior surfaces.
Bake
The hearth for frying is an indispensable component of the Finnish gazebo. It is better to buy a grill or barbecue already assembled, there should be no difficulties with its choice. In addition, it is made in accordance with fire safety standards. Often the set includes a tabletop, a set of mounts, etc.
We mount the lower pedestal in the center on the floor tile. We fix the chimney to the hexagon to which the ends of the rafters are connected. We bring the hood bell to the upper pipe.
Finishing
To emphasize the distinctive look of the grill house, it is important to pay due attention to its decoration. Wooden benches will successfully complement the interior, the seats can be decorated with bedspreads, and pillows can be laid out.
The Finnish house is the case where the flight of imagination is unlimited. You can change the look of the structure both inside and outside.
Classic ways to emphasize the design of the gazebo: paint, install furniture and a washbasin, hang pictures, etc.
The grill house is more than just a barbecue corner. The gazebo conveys a special atmosphere of coziness, unity with nature is felt.
A warm and comfortable room will become a favorite place to relax, because here in any season you can have a glass of wine with friends, grill a barbecue and look at the starry sky.
