Do-it-yourself gazebo in one day and a master class on making
Content
Varieties
There are many variations of gazebos, as well as drawings, according to which they can be built. They can be conditionally divided into two categories:
- stationary;
- mobile.
In most cases, it is stationary gazebos that are being erected. But there are many construction companies that sell mobile collapsible gazebos. They are not cheap, but the installation is carried out literally in 30-40 minutes, and if necessary, they can be moved to any other place.
Also, gazebos are divided into:
- open;
- closed.
The first gazebos are suitable for use in the warm season, and the second ones are also suitable for winter. There is also an adjacent option - closed gazebos, in which soft windows based on silicone or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are used instead of glazing.
Video "Building a gazebo in one day"
In this video, you will learn how to build a wooden gazebo with your own hands.
Materials (edit)
The easiest and fastest way is to build a gazebo with your own hands from wood, namely, from profiled timber or boards with a thickness of at least 2 cm. But it is quite possible to build a structure from other available materials:
- polycarbonate;
- thick branches or tree trunks;
- pallets.
Some enthusiasts have single-handedly assembled gazebos from plastic bottles filled with sand. It turns out quite inexpensively, but no less reliable than from wood-based panels. But the following materials are not recommended to be used due to their fragility:
- plastic panels;
- slate.
Step by step manufacturing
The construction of the gazebo must begin with drawing up a plan. You need to decide on:
- building site;
- the presence or absence of a foundation;
- drawing;
- materials to be used in construction.
The foundation
The optimal size of a simple gazebo is 3 × 3 m. Accordingly, it is necessary to choose a plot of about 3.5 × 3.5 m that is free for building, clear it of debris and remove the top layer of soil 10–20 cm deep. Next, the resulting depression is covered with sand , rammed in several passes. It will only be necessary to fill in a full-fledged foundation for concrete structures. In most cases, you can get by with several foundation blocks or so-called lighthouses - small concrete islands that rise only 3-5 cm above the ground level. It is on them that a wooden strapping is subsequently created.
If there is little experience in construction, it is recommended to choose a gazebo of the correct shape with a pitched roof. Walls in this should also be installed, but only from 2-3 sides, the rest can be closed with soft windows. It is quite possible to build such a gazebo in just one day; it will take 5-6 hours to assemble the frame.
Support
A timber from 50 × 50 mm is used as supports for the side faces, the best option is 80 × 80 mm. For the roof, a beam of a smaller section is used - 30 × 30 mm in order to reduce the total weight of the structure. How to fasten it together? Better with the help of cuts, that is, driving along the grooves.You can cut them with a reciprocating saw or a powerful electric plane with a wide blade (standard - 87 mm, wide - 110 mm). At the junction of two beams, joiner's glue is necessarily poured, which will not only strengthen the frame, but also prevent moisture from entering the created seams.
With the roof, everything is extremely simple: on the one hand, the timber is raised about 10 cm higher, and from above everything is covered with any wood boards or polycarbonate, securing everything with self-tapping screws. One has only to calculate in advance the size of the sheets used and lay the timber in such a way that it falls on the junction of the two slabs.
Sheathing
Suitable for cladding:
- wood moisture-resistant boards of the QSB type;
- lining - can be mounted in increments;
- boards;
- polycarbonate.
You can also fix the plastic panels, but under them they must make a base of wood-based panels - they will add rigidity to the final structure.
Decor
The easiest option is painting, preferably in 2 tones - black and brown. If you want to preserve the natural structure of the wood, then varnishing is used. But on plastic or polycarbonate, you can even carry out burning at all, but this is a rather difficult job, it is better not to take on it without experience.
The gazebo itself can be decorated with flowers, masonry around the perimeter, a small flower bed or even an alpine slide with a fountain. Naturally, all this is already done after the structure itself is put into operation.
Options from improvised means
If the goal is to build a gazebo for a summer residence with a minimum budget, then the following options should be considered:
- Construction from tree trunks. Suitable only for open gazebos. You will have to buy only the material for the roof.
- Arbor from the remains of building materials. Fibrous drywall is perfect, as it is resistant to moisture and ultraviolet radiation. A more expensive option is siding or sandwich panels.
- Decking. Thin metal sheets with galvanization or painting are resistant to moisture, they can also be attached to a wooden frame.
The suggested description is one of hundreds of options. The construction of the same wooden gazebo will cost only 4-5 thousand rubles, from the tools you will need a plane, a screwdriver, a package of self-tapping screws, a saw, and a building level. All this is available in almost every home.
