We grow tomatoes in bags correctly
Technology
Surely, everyone who is not yet familiar with this is interested in the "tomato in bags" technology. How this procedure takes place can be seen in the video at the end of the recording. Tomatoes, like no other vegetables, thrive best when grown in bags. Transplanting plants in this way is very easy. Tomatoes in bags can be absolutely safely rearranged from one place to another, without worrying that you will damage their root system or stems. With other vegetables, for example, peppers or cucumbers - this can no longer be done.
To begin with, they can be put in ordinary polyethylene bags, thirty liters in volume. Approximately two buckets of compost soil should be poured into the "container" - into one. One of the advantages of growing tomatoes in bags, for example, is the factor when the next frost begins in May and you have to drag the bag with plants to a warmer room. The disadvantage in this case is that it can break, given the holes on the bottom of it. They are necessary - so that the tomato root systems do not begin to rot and, of course, so that there is no stagnation of water. There is one more important nuance - it is advisable to choose the color not dark. Since black attracts light and heat, and this can cause tomatoes to overheat and tie poorly, and in this case, you will need to water much more often.
Practice has shown that it is better to use a white bag in which sugar is sold. Such containers will be durable compared to polyethylene containers.
It does not even need to make special holes for water drainage, since they already have them in it (in structure). And thanks to the white color, the soil and roots of the plant do not overheat in the sun, which is a huge advantage. If you are using a short tomato, fill a third with earth. If the variety is tall, you need to fill it in half with soil. Then you can tightly, one to one, put the containers in the greenhouse, turn the top of them out (like a sleeve).
After the procedure for the correct cultivation of tomatoes is absolutely identical to the classical one. Watering your future harvest - once every few days, in extreme heat - more often. You need to tie it up at the base at the root, and also - be sure to do top dressing and pinch the bends.
At the end of the season, after harvesting, the plant is burned. Do not throw away used bags! They will still come in handy for the next seasons. On average, you can use them for three seasons for growing tomatoes.
Thanks to the cultivation of these wonderful vegetables in white bags - in the spring, during the frost period, you will protect them from hypothermia, creating comfortable conditions for their development. In the fall, after harvesting, send the earth to compost.
Growing secrets
You can see some of the secrets of growing in the video below. The main points are that this method is quite simple, albeit unusual at first glance, especially for those gardeners who have not even heard of this.
- Grow in a white plastic compost bag. It needs to be cut along.
- For a good harvest of tomatoes when planting, you need to use three seedlings per container.
- And also for the drainage function, it is definitely worth making small holes on the side parts of the bag.
As a matter of fact, these are the most basic points and advantages of growing tomatoes, in contrast to the classic, traditional method - in the open field.
