Properties and purpose of the drug "Maxim"
Modern dressing agents for commercial crops allow you to protect the plant even at the pre-sowing stage. "Maxim" is rightfully considered one of the best representatives of fungicides, as it does not pose a threat to living organisms and the environment.
The main active ingredient, fludioxonil, is similar to an antibiotic that is naturally secreted by soil bacteria. Fludioxonil destroys the fungus at the DNA level, which helps to strengthen the plant's immunity during the growing season. In this case, the concentrate is active for 2 days.
The contact fungicide also additionally has the ability to stimulate plant growth by acting as a fertilizer. Under the influence of the concentrate, a protective film is formed, which neutralizes the penetration and destructive effect of pathogens on the plant and planting material.
"Maxim" is used by summer residents for the following purposes:
- protection of tuberous nightshade, in particular potatoes, from rot and rhizoctonia;
- dressing of bulbous, corms, tuberous and seeds;
- protecting flowers and vegetables from fungal infections;
- etching flowers from bacteria-causative agents of rot, mold, fusarium wilting;
- disinfection of soil.

From this video you will learn how to process planting material with the "Maxim" preparation.
Mechanism of action and release forms
The manufacturer of "Maxim" is the Swiss company "Syngenta". The product is a concentrated suspension packaged in plastic ampoules with a volume of 2 and 4 ml, as well as powder in sachets. There is also a larger package - a 40 ml bottle with a dispenser. The suspension is readily soluble, odorless, has red pigments to control the degree of etching.
The mechanism of action is based on the formation of a protective fungicidal film around the bulb, tuber or seed, which will prevent the penetration of pathogenic bacteria or spores into the plant.
Fungicide advantages and disadvantages
Finding a remedy without flaws is very difficult. However, you can find a drug that has few or minor drawbacks. These drugs include "Maxim".
- low concentrate consumption and ease of use;
- the possibility of application at any suitable time before landing;
- long period of action;
- compatibility with other fungicides and insecticides;
- does not pose a danger to organisms living in the soil, and to human health;
- does not have a cumulative effect, therefore it does not affect the appearance, smell and taste;
- versatility of use: suitable for processing vegetable, grain and flower crops;
- non-phytotoxic subject to recommended dosages;
- does not provoke resistance of organisms.
- deadly for fish and other inhabitants of water bodies;
- after processing, the culture cannot be used as animal feed.
Some refer to the disadvantages of the drug as the need to comply with the dosage and precautions. However, in our opinion, this is just a reasonable security measure.
Detailed instructions for use
It is imperative to take into account that the instruction depends, first of all, on what will be etched. Each goal has its own characteristics and nuances.
For dressing the soil
For soil disinfection, the concentrate is diluted at the rate of 40 ml per 20 liters of clean water. This solution should be enough for the treatment of 10 m². The ground is watered with a solution very carefully so that there are no dry places. After processing the entire intended area, it is covered with black plastic wrap. The film significantly increases the destructive effect of the active substance. The shelter is removed after a few days.
For the processing of bulbous
Bulbous and corms often suffer from various types of rot and fusarium. To prevent the development of the disease, the planting material must be soaked for half an hour in a solution of the drug (4 ml per 2 l of water). After that, the bulbs must be dried thoroughly at room temperature.
For processing potatoes
The use of "Maxim" for processing potatoes will prevent the appearance of fusarium, phomosis and wet rot. Processing is carried out before laying the tubers for storage. To do this, spray the potatoes with a spray bottle with a solution of 4 ml / 100 ml of water.
Re-processing before planting will reduce the risk of disease to almost zero.
For color processing
For the treatment of deciduous, indoor and other flowers, a small amount of the drug is used (up to 5 drops per 100 ml) and water at room temperature. This solution is used to spray the roots of plants during transplanting or planting.
Compatibility with other drugs
"Maxim" can be combined with other means of a similar mechanism of action. An exception is made with disinfectants, which contain organic solvents.
Safety measures when working with fungicide
In general, "Maxim" is not dangerous for human or animal health. However, if the rules of use are violated, there may be negative consequences (poisoning, for fish and inhabitants of the reservoir - death). Therefore, you need to follow these rules:
- do not carry out processing in front of animals and children;
- be sure to use protective equipment;
- working with the solution, it is forbidden to eat and drink, smoke;
- do not spray the product near natural and artificial water sources;
- use only household containers for mixing the concentrate with water;
- after using the concentrate, the protective equipment must be removed, hands and exposed parts of the body must be washed with soap, and the mouth and nose must be washed.
First aid for drug poisoning
Violation of safety measures can provoke poisoning. At the first sign of malaise, you must:
- wash off the suspension from the place of contact with soapy water;
- if the product gets into the eyes or on the mucous membranes, they need to be rinsed for several minutes;
- if the solution gets inside through the mouth opening, it is necessary to take the person out into fresh air, drink activated charcoal (1 g of a tablet per 1 kg of weight), drink plenty of water, and then use a saline solution to provoke vomiting;
- seek medical help from a toxicologist as soon as possible.
Storage conditions and disposal of containers
You can store the product for up to 3 years, in a dark place out of the reach of children and animals. Also, the drug should not be near food, animal feed, medicines and cosmetics.
Storage temperature: maximum - 30 ° C above zero, minimum - 10 ° C below zero.
The container must be thrown into household waste, having previously got rid of the remnants of the product.
